Shetler, Moore and Palamar Earn 2019 All-PSUAC Men’s Soccer Honors

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto men's soccer team had three of its players named Tuesday to the 2019 All-Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) Men's Soccer squads, as freshman Trenton Shetler (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro Area), sophomore goalkeeper Austin Moore (Brockway, Pa. / Brockway Area) and Bryce Palamar (Smithsburg, Md. / Williamsport) were honored. Shetler was recognized on the second team, while Moore and Palamar were recognized on the honorable mention team as voted on by the league's coaches.

Trenton Shetler (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro Area) made an immediate impact, starting all 18 matches in which, he appeared in. He amassed five goals, which tied for a team-best and added an assist for 11 points. He registered a team-high 48 shots, including 21 that were placed on target as Shetler also scored the game-winner in the 4-1 victory over Patrick Henry College on Sept. 19.  

Palamar started and appeared in every match for the Nittany Lions for the second-straight season and led the team with 13 points on three goals and seven assists. His seven helpers tied him for third within the PSUAC and it ranks him 10th within the USCAA. The sophomore midfielder closed the season on a high note recording a point or more in three of the final four games of the season and helped Mont Alto clinch their first playoff berth since the 2016 season. Palamar has been named All-PSUAC Honorable Mention for two-straight years and his seven assists were the most by any Mont Alto student-athlete in a single season since 2013 when Brandon Angle dished out six.

Austin Moore (Brockway, Pa. / Brockway Area) thrived as the team's starting goalkeeper registering 15 starts this fall. He topped all PSUAC net minders with his .814 save percentage and was second in the conference in goals against average (1.32). Moore totaled 83 saves and recorded a career-high five shutouts, including three against PSUAC competition.

Junior forward Alex Martinez (Frederick, Md. / Governor Thomas Johnson) was Mont Alto's selection for the John Fritz Sportsmanship Award. Named after former PSUAC Commissioner John Fritz, the sportsmanship award is given to one player from each team in the league who best displays the core values of the league and sportsmanship to teammates and opponents throughout the season.
