Softball defeats Washington Adventist

 

Penn State Mont Alto's Softball team had a great offensive day on Friday when they took on Washington Adventist in a double-header.  Mont Alto won the first game 29-3 in five innings and 22-0 in five innings in the second game.

Kristyan Gates pitched all five innings in the first game and only allowed four hits and three runs.  She struck out ten batters. Gates was not the only Mont Alto player with an impressive day.  Diamond Byers was four for four at the plate with 1 walk and scored five runs.  Jenna Rhodes also had a few hits, going three for four with two doubles, one walk and four runs scored.  Mackenzie Trafka had three hits on six plate appearances. 

 

Alicia Morgan who reached the base four times on two walks, hit  by pitch and a fielding error, scored three times and stole two bases. Trafka recorded three stolen bases.

 

 

In the second game, Mont Alto continued to dominate at the plate and on the pitcher's mound, winning with a score of 22-0. 

Rhodes pitched all five innings, allowing only four hits, 3 walks and struck out six.  She did not allow any runs to score. 

Gates, who played second base in the second game, was four for four at the plate with one double.  Jami Ross, Kieara Fleagle, Trafka, Rhodes and Morgan all had two hits.

 

 

Mont Alto will be on the road this weekend, where they will play at Hagerstown Community College Tournament.
