Mont Alto traveled to New Kensington on Sunday to play a tough conference double-header.  New Kensington is another PSUAC school fighting to make the playoffs.  They were at the top of the conference right below Mont Alto for most of the season.  Mont Alto came ready to play and swept the conference opponent.

Game one was very close the entire seven innings.  Mont Alto and New Kensington were both held scoreless until the sixth inning.  Mont Alto got on the board first, with three runs in the sixth inning.  New Kensington answered back in the bottom of the sixth with three runs to tie the game.  Mont Alto scored one run in the seventh and that was enough to win the game.  New Kensington was held scoreless in the bottom of the seventh.

Gates was on the mound, allowing four runs, three earned on eight hits and four walks.  She struck out eight batters.  New Kensington's Tarra Orevac hit a homerun.

Kiara Fleagle was 2 for 2 with two RBIs.  Byers added a double.

In game two, Mont Alto was in more control.  After falling behind in the second inning when New Kensington took a 2-1 lead, Mont Alto did not give up.  They scored four runs in the top of the third and did not lose that lead the rest of the game.  New Kensington was unable to score any more runs.  Mont Alto finished the game with a score of 8-2.

Trafka added two doubles, a triple, two runs and a RBI.  Alicia Morgan and Gates each added a double.

Rhodes had a solid game on the mound. She only allowed four hits and both runs scored were unearned.  Rhodes struck out seven batters.

Mont Alto's regular season is over and currently sits at a great place in the standings at number one.  If Mont Alto remains as the #1 seed, they will host the PSUAC Softball Championship Tournament May 6th and 7th.
