Softball falls to Hood College

Mont Alto Women's Softball team had a tough double-header on Thursday March 27, 2014 against Hood College Blazers.  Hood has already played in 17 games and currently is on a 12-game winning streak, while Mont Alto on the other hand has only played in two games this season, Hood being their third.

 

In the first inning of the first game, Hood College took a commanding 4-1 lead over Mont Alto.

 

Mont Alto answered and scored in the first by upperclassman Diamond Byers (Greencastle, PA) and later scoring in the fifth and the seventh was Senior Chelsea Pittman (Chambersburg, PA). These ladies had all three of Mont Alto's runs. Byers was impressive on offense, hitting three for four, two RBI's and one run.  Freshman Katie Graham (Spotsylvania, VA) also had strong at bats, going two for three with one RBI.

 

The final score of the first game was 5-3, Hood snagged the win.

 

The second game of the double-header started off similar to the first. Hood had taken a 4-0 lead in the first inning.  The final score of this defeat for Mont Alto was 8-0 in five innings, Hood College Blazers walking away with the double-header victory.

 

The defeat dropped Mont Alto's overall record to 1-3.  The Mont Alto ladies have a week to prepare for PSUAC rivalry opponent Penn State Beaver.

 

Mont Alto will host Beaver on Saturday April 5th, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.
