Softball picks up two wins against Greater Allegheny

 

 

Mont Alto Women's Softball faced PSUAC conference opponents Greater Allegheny Sunday after a big win over Penn State Beaver.

 

 

At the start of the first game, both teams played respectable defense allowing no runs in the first four innings.  In the bottom of the fourth Sarah Bortner (Glenville, PA) hit a homerun taking the lead 1-0 over Greater Allegheny.  Mont Alto collected another run in the bottom of the fifth and Greater Allegheny answered back with a run in the sixth.  Mont Alto would score one more time giving them the 3-1 victory.   

 

 

During the second game, in the bottom of the second inning, Mont Alto had four runs and three hits. The hits didn't stop. They went 14 for 28 with 12 runs and 12 RBI's.  Brooke Porter (Shippensburg, PA) was impressive, going 3 for 4 with three RBI's and one run.  Diamond Byers (Greencastle, PA) also hit the ball well, going 2 for 4 with two runs and two RBI's.  Every player that stepped up to the plate for Mont Alto received a hit, a run, or an RBI.  Overall it was definitely a team effort.

 

 

Mont Alto brought in five more runs in the bottom of the fifth, advancing their lead on Greater Allegheny and winning, 12-4.

 

 

Mont Alto Women's Softball is now on a four game win streak.
