Mont Alto Women's Softball team traveled to Elm Park to play a double-header against PSUAC conference opponent Penn College.
Both teams played great defense forcing each other to quick outs in the first five innings.
They battled until the top of the sixth inning when Sarah Bortner (Glenville, PA) hit a single to put her on base. Next at bat was Brooke Porter (Shippensburg, PA); the pitcher walked Porter advancing Bortner to second. Porter went 2-2 at bat against Penn College in the first game.
Samantha Gladhill (Cascade, MD) was next to bat for Mont Alto. Gladhill hit a single that brought in Bortner for Mont Alto. This was the only run scored the first game.
Mont Alto went on to win the first game, 1-0.
The second game was no different, both teams battled to the last two innings. At the top of the sixth inning, Bortner singled, putting her on first base. Porter was next in rotation at bat; she hit a triple that brought in Bortner across home plate.
Gladhill batted 2-2 also hitting a sacrifice fly ball out to left field hit bringing in Porter for Mont Alto second run of the game.
The final score of this game was 2-0, Mont Alto winning the double-header.
