Lady Lions Bounce Back Strong

Lady Lions Bounce Back Strong

The Penn State Mont Alto Softball team had both its ups and downs yesterday at the USCAA National Tournament in Akron, OH.  With their 2nd round play coming against the number 1 seeded St. Mary of the Woods, the Lady Lions struggled to keep their bats going as they did in their 11-0 victory the day before.  The Lady Lions did not get a single hit against St. Mary of the Woods pitcher, Brooke Jordan who struck out 11 Lady Lions.

Mont Alto held tough until the bottom of the 4th inning when they allowed 5 runs scored against them for a final score of 8-0.

The Lions were not deterred however, and came back strong against their next opponent, New Hampshire Technical Institute (7).  With 2 RBI's from Brianna Glatz, and another outstanding pitching performance from Sarah Bortner who added another 10 strikeouts to her resume, the Lady Lions kept their National Championship hopes alive winning 4-1.

Mont Alto now awaits the losing team from the game between Briarcliffe (5) and St. Mary of the Woods (1).  The Lady Lions are scheduled to play this game at 2:00 pm this afternoon.
