Chambersburg, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto softball team concluded it's 2017 regular season on Wednesday dropping a pair of non-conference games to Wilson College. The Phoenix took game one 8-0 in five innings and completed the sweep with a 10-3 win.

In the opener, Wilson College (20-10) used a six run third inning to blow the game open. The Phoenix managed three hits within the inning, but was aided by a pair of Mont Alto fielding errors. The big blow of the inning and game came off the bat of Kayla Sullenberger who launched a grand slam to put her team up 7-0.  Wilson added the eventual winning tally in the bottom of the fifth, as Megan Potter was dominant within the circle striking out 14 batters for the win. Kaitlyn Whiteaker was 2-for-2 off of Potter and she smacked a double to right center field in the fifth inning.

The Lions raced out to an early 3-1 advantage in game two scoring all three of its runs in the top of the third inning. Cassidy Feaser got things started with a leadoff single and advanced to second when Alexandra Zombro slapped a single passed the shortstop. Feaser came around to score on a fielder's choice and Zombro scored on a RBI single from Kaitlyn Whiteaker.  Wilson responded by putting up a six-spot in the bottom of the frame to pull out to a 7-3 advantage and it reinserted game one starter Megan Potter who quieted the Lions bats the rest of the way. The Phoenix added three runs in the bottom of the fifth to round out the scoring.

Penn State Mont Alto finishes its season with a 9-15 overall record and the Lions were 7-13 in the PSUAC.
