DUBOIS, Pa. – The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) announced Penn State Mont Alto freshman infielder Brooklyn Wagner (Newville, Pa. / Big Spring) as a Second Team All-American during its annual end-of-year banquet at the 2018 Small College World Series in DuBois, Pa.
Krista Feaser (Shippensburg, Pa. / Faith Tabernacle), Cassidy Feaser (Shippensburg, Pa. / Faith Tabernacle), and Monica Fleshman (Gettysburg, Pa. / Gettysburg) were also recognized at the USCAA banquet for their outstanding efforts in the classroom as each were named to the All-Academic Team.
Brooklyn Wagner (Newville, Pa. / Big Spring) started all 20 games while producing a .530 batting average during her first season at Mont Alto. She led the team in hits (35), doubles (9), triples (4), home runs (2) and RBIs (32). Her batting average led the PSUAC and ranked fourth in the USCAA.
The freshman shortstop displayed a slick glove on the diamond with a .903 fielding percentage as her .879 slugging percentage also positioned her 10th in the nation. Wagner is Mont Alto's first softball All-American selection since 2016 when Brooke Porter achieved the status.
USCAA All-Americans are nominated and voted on by coaches and administrators of the association, and All-Academic recipients have a cumulative 3.5 grade-point average or higher with at least one full academic year under their belt.
