Softball drops a pair of games to Penn State Brandywine

Game 1: Penn State Brandywine 10, Penn State Mont Alto 3

 

Game Story

Katie McCauslin earned the start in game one of the PSUAC doubleheader for Penn State Mont Alto. She pitched four innings, giving up six earned runs in the losing effort. Penn State Brandywine pounded out 14 hits, scoring runs in all but the first inning. Penn State Brandywine struck early as Jess James doubled to left field, scoring Ferrell Everett. Penn State Mont Alto knotted the score in the bottom half of the second when Jaylin Belton reached base via error. Meghan Ferry scored via wild pitch and Kelsey Rees stole home to give Penn State Brandywine a 3-1 lead after three innings. Penn State Brandywine recorded four runs on four hits in the top of the fifth inning to push the lead to 8-1. Penn State Mont Alto scored in the sixth inning when Emily Sicinski plated Brooklyn Miller on a RBI double. McKenna Sas scored Kirsten Dell in the bottom of the 7th. The Penn State Brandywine offensive attack was too much to overcome in game one, with Penn State Brandywine winning 10-3.

Game 2: Penn State Brandywine 12, Penn State Mont Alto 3

 

Game Story

In game two, Penn State Mont Alto raced out to a early 2-0 lead after one inning of play. Emily Sicinski led off the bottom of the first inning with a double to left center field gap. Kirsten Dell advanced Sicinski to third on a base hit. Destiny Hall scored Sicinski on a RBI groundout. Brooklyn Miller scored Dell on a single later in the inning. Penn State Brandywine went on to score nine runs on nine hits in the top of the second inning. Payton Landis recorded the big hit of the inning when she doubled to left field, scoring Gianna Terpolilli and Taylor D'Attilio. Meghan Ferry plated Jess James in the top of the third for Penn State Brandywine, pushing the lead to 10-2. Three more runs gave Penn State Brandywine a 13-2 lead after five innings of play. Penn State Brandywine recorded 18 hits in game two, Penn State Mont Alto recorded nine. Payton Landis paced the Penn State Brandywine offense with two hits and four runs batted in. Emily Sicinski and Kirsten Dell each registered two hits a piece for Penn State Mont Alto
