Mont Alto Tennis places third in the PSUAC Championships

Mont Alto Tennis places third in the PSUAC Championships

The 2011 Mont Alto Tennis team recently concluded its season, finishing with a 0-6 record. Unfortunately, four matches were rained out and unable to be made up.  The team started the season with eight men and nine women on the roster.  Mont Alto tennis ended with five men and three women on the roster.  The team stayed strong and continued to battle to win matches throughout the season.

"It's always an honor to coach quality young adults and this year is no exception. Our core of Brady Rodgers, Matt Charen, Jon Ortiz, Yu Ying Chang, Rachel McMullen, Zach Fawaz and Letticia Banda was awesome. What we lacked in tennis skill, we replaced with character," Head Coach Alan Smith comments.

Mont Alto is striving to return to being highly competitive again, with Coach Smith's goal for 2012 to vie for the PSUAC championship. It will require those hesitant players to commit and play for Mont Alto.

"We set the groundwork at the PSUAC tournament, finishing 3rd only 13 points out of 2nd place. Zach Fawaz was our lone champion, winning at #4 men's singles," Smith adds.  "Thanks to our student-athletes who allow me to coach and mentor you, I am anxious for 2012 already."
