Mont Alto Women Host Christendom for Home Opener

The Penn State Mont Alto Women's Basketball team stepped out on the court Wednesday evening with two returning players, five new freshmen, a new head coach and new assistant coach.

The team faced Christendom College for their home opener.  This was the first time in the school's history that Mont Alto and Christendom played against one another on the basketball court.  "I was overall pleased with our younger players.  They played poised and showed leadership on the floor," explained Head Coach Donna Davis.

Freshman Colleen Loncar was the high scorer with 17points, shooting over 60% from the field.  Carina Chu showed her defensive skills, stopping several fast breaks and creating steals.

"With only having seven players, I congratulate all the girls on a great effort; they played hard the whole game and worked as a team.  At halftime we set goals to improve on and change, the goals we set we did reach the second half.  I am very proud of the team and think this is a great start for us to build on," Coach Davis comments.

Although the team lost 32-59, they were able to utilize every player and see their strengths and work on areas to improve.  The women will travel to rival Penn State York on December 1st, for a 6:00 p.m. game.
