Women's Basketball season preview

Women's Basketball season preview

Coach Paul Lundy is excited to enter his first year as the Head Coach for the Women's Basketball team at Penn State Mont Alto. The program was very fortunate to add Mary Miller and Ashley Benedick as Assistant Coaches. Coach Lundy states that "The coaching staff has a solid plan put in place to move our program forward. We are working hard every day to get this program competitive in the PSUAC." Together the coaching staff is expecting improvement from the team as they head into the season. The team has been able to add several non-conference games that will allow them to be better prepared for the rigors of the PSUAC schedule.

The team will feature three returning starters in Alicia Detwiler (York, PA/ Eastern), Kendra Hilbert (Dover, PA/Dover) and Alexis Small (Hagerstown, MD/South Hagerstown).  Additions to the roster this year will be Dori Kozain (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro), Brooke Porter (Shippensburg, PA/Shippensburg), Megan Dougherty (Willow Hill, PA/Fannett-Metal), Alexis Shaffer (Hagerstown, MD/South Hagerstown) and Ashley Madison (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove).  All five freshmen will be expected to contribute to the team's success immediately.

Coach Lundy says that "We have a young roster but so far I have been impressed with what I have seen. We are going to be competitive at every position and the ladies are eager to get to work preparing for the season." The schedule is going to be tough in and out of conference. Lundy adds "We are going to have to play with energy, enthusiasm and execution every day to reach our goals."

Mont Alto Women's Basketball first home game of the season will be November 18th against Penn State Lehigh Valley at 6:00 p.m.
