Women's Basketball drops a game to Trinity Washington

The Penn State Mont Alto Women's Basketball team traveled to Trinity Washington University last evening.  Trinity Washington is a NCAA Division III program located in Washington, DC.  Mont Alto came out strong but they were not able to bring home a win, losing 70-42.

"We were only trailing 20-18 at the ten minute mark in the first half but after that we got sloppy with the ball and didn't put enough effort into our rebounding and defense," Head Coach Paul Lundy comments.

Freshman Alexis Shaffer (Hagerstown, MD/ South Hagerstown) was impressive for Mont Alto.  Shaffer had a double-double, scoring 17 points, grabbing 14 rebounds and was five for seven from the free throw line.  Megan Dougherty (Willow Hill, PA/Fannett-Metal) added eight points and Dori Kozain (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro) recorded eight rebounds.

"We got things turned around and played a much better second half but we were never in a position to get back into the game," Coach Lundy adds.  "Trinity is one of the most well rounded teams that we have played yet this year."

Mont Alto will be back on the court on Wednesday for an away game at Penn College at 6:00 p.m.
