Women's Basketball defeats Penn College

Mont Alto Women's Basketball team earned their second PSUAC win of the season and remain undefeated in the conference.  The ladies kept the lead throughout the game and never looked back, defeating Penn College 64-55.

"It was great to get a conference win on the road.  It required a total team effort tonight.  We got contributions from everyone in the lineup to get the win," Head Coach Paul Lundy comments.

Mont Alto tallied impressive stats in last evening's game.  All six players had at least one statistic in double digits.  Freshman Alexis Shaffer (Hagerstown, MD/South Hagerstown) earned a double-double, contributing 13 points with 16 rebounds.  Megan Dougherty (Willow Hill, PA/Fannett-Metal) was the leading scorer for Mont Alto with 17 points.  Sophomore Kendra Hilbert (Dover, PA/Dover) went seven for eight from the free throw line and added 12 points for Mont Alto.  Dori Kozain (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro) had seven blocks and 15 rebounds.  Brooke Porter (Shippensburg, PA/Shippensburg) was also strong under with basket with 12 rebounds.

"We have great balance in our scoring attack.  We are regularly putting four or five players in double digits each game.  We can be a tough team to defend because so many of our players have an ability to score.  Shaffer was able to keep her double-double streak alive by snatching a team high 16 boards," Coach Lundy adds.

Mont Alto will host their last home game of the semester on Saturday December 7th against Hazleton at 10:00 a.m.
