Women's Basketball falls to Brandywine

The Penn State Mont Alto Women's Basketball team lost a game on the road to Brandywine on Friday night.  Mont Alto was unable to respond to Brandywine's strong offense, losing 75-44.

"To be competitive against a team with the talent, experience and athleticism of Brandywine we would have had to play a strong game," Head Coach Paul Lundy comments.  "Unfortunately we did not respond to playing in the gym of one of the best teams in the conference.  We allowed 25 offensive rebounds and turned the ball over 29 times."

Alexis Shaffer (Hagerstown, MD/South Hagerstown) played another outstanding game and returned her double-double.  Shaffer posted 17 points and grabbed 15 rebounds.  Brooke Porter (Shippensburg, PA/Shippensburg) continues to improve offensively, scoring eight points and eight rebounds.  Ashley Madison (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove) added seven points and seven rebounds for Mont Alto.

"I was disappointed with our execution tonight," Coach Lundy adds.  "We succumbed to the ball pressure that Brandywine applied.  Their press was good, not great and we were able to break it early in the game and score some easy buckets.  However, as we wore down as the first half progressed their pressure got the better of us and we fell behind by a large margin," Coach Lundy adds.  "Lexi and Brooke both were impressive and contributed a lot on offense for us."

The ladies will be back on their home court on January 16th against Worthington Scranton for a 6:00 p.m. game.
