The Mont Alto Lady Lions started slow tonight as they hosted conference opponent Penn State Greater Allegheny. Mont Alto never gave in to the pressure though as they made a run to end the first half tied 29-29.
It went back and forth in the second half, and was always close. Greater Allegheny's Tori Johnston kept her team just ahead of Mont Alto in the second, but Mont Alto hung around. With Mont Alto taking the lead, 61-60 with 28 seconds left to play Greater Allegheny had two chances at the bucket, but both would fall short as Mont Alto grabbed the rebound.
With 5 seconds to go, Mont Alto's Ashley Madison would go to the line for 2 shots. Making the first, Madison put Mont Alto up 62-60. Madison missed the second free throw, and Greater Allegheny called a timeout after securing the rebound.
Greater Allegheny put a last second, half court shot up, but it fell short to give Mont Alto their 3rd PSUAC victory of the season.
Mont Alto had 3 ladies in double figures in scoring. Dori Kozain led the with 14 points, with Ashley Madison, Alicia Detwiler, and Alexis Small all addin 11 point a piece.
Greater Allegheny's Tori Johnston ended the evening with 27 points including shooting 7 for 13 from the 3 point line.
Mont Alto will be hosting Penn State Beaver tomorrow at 1:00 pm.
