Adams, Schoonover, and Coleman Named to the USCAA All-Academic Team

UNIONTOWN, Pa. – Rebekah Adams (York, Pa. / Central York), Angel Schoonover (Woodhull, N. Y. / Jasper-Troupsburg), and Karley Coleman (Hanover, Pa. / Delone Catholic) of the Penn State Mont Alto women's basketball team were named to the 2017-18 United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) on Tuesday.

All student-athletes must have 24 or more credits on their USCAA transcripts and their cumulative grade point average must be a 3.50 or greater to be eligible for the recognition. A full list of the 2017 USCAA Basketball National All-Academic Award winners can be found here.

A nursing major, Rebekah Adams (York, Pa. / Central York) started a career-high 23 games this season, averaged 4.5 points per game and shot a team-best 49.5 percent from the floor. The Central York product also averaged a career-high 4.2 rebounds per game.

Karley Coleman (Hanover, Pa. / Delone Catholic) is working towards a bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy, started every game for the second-straight season for Mont Alto as she averaged a career-high 5.5 assists per game, while also grabbing 5.1 rebounds a game.

Angel Schoonover (Woodhull, N. Y. / Jasper-Troupsburg) was recognized as a National All-Academic Team member for the first time in her career. Schoonover is working towards a degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant and averaged 22.3 minutes per game as a key member of Coach Mary Miller's roation during the 2017-18 season. Schoonover produced 7.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.

The USCAA All-Academic Team was announced at the USCAA Championship banquet, which was held at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort on Tuesday evening with the National Tournament taking place on the campus of Penn State Fayette from Feb. 27-March 3.
