Mariah Martin and Madison Bishop Named All-PSUAC

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – At the conclusion of the Penn State University Conference (PSUAC) women's basketball championship on Sunday, the conference office announced the 2019-20 end of the season awards, as voted upon by the league's coaches. For the second-straight season Mariah Martin (Shippensburg, Pa. / Shippensburg) landed on an All-Conference Team with the sophomore recognized on the First Team within the west division. Fellow sophomore Madison Bishop (Newville, Pa. / Big Spring), a first-time honoree was represented on the All-PSUAC Honorable Mention team.

Martin was Mont Alto's top player during the 2019-20 season, leading the team in scoring (15.2 points per game), rebounding (9.1 per game), shooting percentage (40.4%), and blocked shots (32). Her 15.2 points per game ranked ninth within the conference and she concluded the season with 10 double-doubles.

Sophomore guard Madison Bishop (Newville, Pa. / Big Spring) was Mont Alto's top 3-point shooter knocking down 29.8 percent while averaging 11.6 point per game. She put up a career-best performance in a 62-43 win over PSU New Kensington where she netted 25 points, while also grabbing 10 rebounds.

In addition, freshman Brittany Morrow (Chambersburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley Christian) was selected as the team's John Fritz Sportsmanship Award winner. Named after former PSUAC Commissioner John Fritz, the sportsmanship award is given to one player from each team in the league who best displays the core values of the league and sportsmanship to teammates and opponents throughout the season.

Penn State Mont Alto closed out the 2019-20 season concludes their season with an 8-16 overall record and its postseason berth was the programs first since the 2014-15 season.
