Make it two straight wins for Mont Alto as they defeated Wilson College in non-conference action 74-39 on Tuesday evening. Madison Bishop and Mariah Martin led the team in scoring with twelve points each. Naliyah Hadley and Chelsea Cover each scored nine points a piece. Mariah Martin completed a double-double, adding ten boards to her team-high twelve points. Chelsea Cover was the main distributor for Mont Alto, finishing with a game-high seven assists.
Mont Alto got out to an early 12-3 run on baskets by Alexia Hackett, Madison Bishop, Chelsea Cover and Madison Blyler who connected on a three-pointer as well. Wilson College cut the Mont Alto lead to just four at 18-14 at the first quarter horn. Mont Alto turned up the intensity in the second quarter going into halftime 38-19. The Mont Alto defense was able to hold Wilson College to eight total points in the second and third quarters. Those quarters were the difference as Mont Alto gained an 38-8 advantage in the middle quarters.
Mont Alto finished the evening shooting 49.2% (29-59) from the field and held Wilson College to 19.2% (12-62) shooting. Chelsea Cover and Madison Bishop led the team with four steals a piece. On the night, the Mont Alto defense forced 28 Wilson turnovers.
