Wrestling competes against three teams at York

Penn State Mont Alto's Wrestling team competed against many tough teams on Saturday, February 2nd at York.

Mont Alto's wrestling team is competing in their second year as a collegiate team.  They have many young, talented wrestlers on their team.

During the meet at York, Mont Alto wrestled against two ranked NCAA Division III teams.  In their match against #3 Courtland, they fell 41 to 3 but fought hard.  Daniel May II won by decision with a score of 9-2 over Courtland's Paul Fields in the 125 lb. weight class.

They also wrestled against #18 York and lost 58-0.

In their match against Thaddeus Stevens, Mont Alto kept it close but fell by one point, losing 13-12.  Mont Alto's Nathanial Proce won by forfeit in the 133 lb. weight class and Chase Scott pinned Adam Will in the 174 lb. weight class.

"We knew this was going to be good competition for us.  We wrestled the #3 Courtland and #18 York ranked teams in the NCAA III.  We were able to pull out a couple of wins which is great.  We matched up well with Thaddeus Stevens and fell short.  We need to be able to wrestle and win the tight matches," stated Head Coach Bruce Kocsis.
