Wrestling finishes PSUAC regular season undefeated

The Mont Alto Wrestling team dominated regular season play in the PSUAC.  Mont Alto finished their regular season matches in the PSUAC undefeated, going 6-0.  The team traveled to Beaver on Wednesday night and faced Beaver, New Kensington and Fayette.  Mont Alto defeated all three teams, Beaver 53-0, New Kensington 48-6 and Fayette 48-6.

Mont Alto recorded 25 wins out of 27 matches.  Everyone that wrestled and won provided bonus points to the team except one match that was decided by a decision.  Mont Alto only lost two matches the entire night.

"We are currently 6-0 in the conference and are preparing for the PSUAC/USCAA Championship Tournament where we will be battling for the conference championship," Head Coach Bruce Kocsis comments.  "Being undefeated in conference duals (6-0) we believe we have a good shot at the PSUAC title this year."

Captain Clay Kocsis (Gettysburg, PA/Gettysburg) (165) is leading the squad with a record of 16-0.  Right on Clay's heals are Andrew Mellott (Carlisle, PA/Boiling Springs) (141) 16-7, Jaron Burke (Reading, PA/Berks Catholic) (285) 16-8.  Behind them are Daniel May (Biglerville, PA/Biglerville) (133) 10-4, Dale Nichols (Biglerville, PA/Biglerville) (197) 10-5, and Alec Warner (Littlestown, PA/Littlestown) (184) 8-1.

Returning to the lineup is Captain Tyler Warner (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro) (141) 5-1 after missing the majority of the first half of the season.

"The coaching staff is very pleased with every wrestler and we continue to strive towards getting better every day," Coach Kocsis adds.

Mont Alto Wrestling will travel to Ursinus Will Abele Invitational on Saturday January 18th.
