Up and Down...and UP

Up and Down...and UP

The Mont Alto Wrestling team has had to make a lot of adjustments this season.  Although they have only posted a 6-8 record thus far this season, they are improving more and more by the day.  Like General Sam Houston asking for more time from the defenders of the Alamo so that the recruits get every minute of training they can, Coach Kocsis knows that every day his wrestlers are getting better, but need that 'precious time.'

Coach Kocsis has the issue that every coach wished they didn't have to deal with, but knows it will make them a better team for it.  Having to use almost his entire second string of wrestlers due to his starters being injured.  That has not dettered them from giving it their all however, but it does hurt the reigning PSUAC Conference Champions when it comes to experience.

After getting beat by Millersville University, Mont Alto quickly bounced back to defeat Thaddeus Stevens.  Mont Alto then travelled to a tri-meet at the University of Delaware where they defeated DIII Widener University 33-12, and lost only by 3 (27-24) to the DI Blue Hens of the University of Delaware.

Even with the ever uphill battle of forcing experience on the bench players, Coach Kocsis does have some experienced help as his Junior, Tyler Warner (Waynesboro) has gone 14-1 so far this season, and is ranked #3 in the country individually.  Even some of his Sophomores are posing a threat to other teams to help out, including Clay Kocsis(9-1), Quinn Frassetta (6-1), and Diantra Landry (10-4) who all bring a big lift to the team.

Even with these injuries to the team, and the problems they have had to overcome, Coach Kocsis has his Mont Alto wrestlers ranked 6th in the country in the NCWA.  Mont Alto will have some time to rest over the holidays now, and hopefully get some of their starters healthy before their January 10th home match.
