Another Honor for the Decorated Wrestler

Mont Alto wrestling has grown tremendously on campus since first being introduced in 2011.  The team has been known to be doing cross fit training on rainy Saturday mornings, and also being the loudest cheering section at volleyball and basketball games to support their fellow student-athletes.  With all of their success on the mat however, the wrestlers don't always get recognized for their academic accomplishments as much.

This year at the PSUAC Awards Banquet, Clay Kocsis was awarded the John S Egli Scholar Athlete Award for Outstanding Male Scholar Athlete in the entire conference.  Kocsis was selected as the recipient not only for his accomplishments as a wrestler, but also his accomplishments in academics.

Kocsis is only a junior, and plans to graduate next year with his Business degree from Mont Alto.  Kocsis has had an outstanding career for the Mont Alto Atheltic Department, and has been a great representative of what Mont Alto ahtletics is all about.

Below are listed career accomplishments for Kocsis:

2x All-American

2x NCWA Academic All-American

2015 NCWA Runner Up

2016 NCWA 3rd place finisher

2015 and 2016 NCWA Mid East Conference Most Valuable Wrestler

2016 Record of 37-1

Career Record of 94-10

A cumulative GPA of 3.85
