Wrestling Competes in Green Terror Duals at McDaniel

WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Penn State Mont Alto wrestling team competed in the Green Terror Duals hosted by McDaniel on Sunday and faced off against strong competition in Maryland, finishing the day with one win and two defeats.

The Lions (3-4) topped the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) 42-6 while they suffered setbacks to Gettysburg College 46-9 and to McDaniel by a 58-0 score.

Sophomore Dan Bertram (Seaford, N.Y. / Seaford), freshman Mason Blank (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg), freshman Joe Mays (Glen Rock, Pa. / Susquehannock) and senior Aric Smoker (Newville, Pa. / Big Spring) all recorded pins on the day for PSUMA against UMBC.

Smoker pinned Jacob Rampolla in the 197-pound weight class as Mitchell Krcelic (Huntington, Beach, Ca. / St. Mary's International School), Bryce Palamar (Smithsburg, Md. / Williamsport), and Dominick Hyatt (Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg Area) also earned team points in their respective weight classes.

Palamar also earned the 10-3 decision over Eric Chambers from Gettysburg College at 141-pounds.

Penn State Mont Alto returns to action on Friday, November 30 in the Messiah Petrofes Invitational at 12 p.m.
