YORK, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto wrestling team competed in the York College Quad Match on Saturday afternoon and took losses against the Spartans, Southern Virginia and Penn College. The dual losses pushed Mont Alto's record to 2-7 for the 2018-19 season.
In the opening match of the day Mont Alto was unable to pick up any team points with York College sweeping the dual with four pin falls and two tech falls for the 53-0 win.
Against Penn College, the Lions only points were forfeits at 125 and 133, before the Wildcats swept the remaining points.
In their final matchup of the day, Mont Alto picked up forfeit wins in two weight classes to grab an early 12-3 lead before Mason Blank (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg) dropped a narrow 8-7 decision. Southern Virginia won the remaining matches by pins, except at 165 where Joe Mays (Glen Rock, Pa. / Susquehannock) earned a pin over Kyle York in 3:58.
The Mont Alto wrestling team returns to action on Saturday, February 2 where the team competes at the Camden County Community College Tri-Meet.
