Mariano records hat trick in 3-0 win over Hazleton

HAZLETON, Pa.- Penn State Mont Alto women's soccer improved to 5-2 on the season with a 2-0 mark in the PSUAC with a 3-0 win over Penn State Hazleton on Tuesday evening. Alexis Mariano recorded seven SOG and found the back of the net on three, converting Mont Alto's second hat trick on the season.
The Mont Alto defense stood strong for the second time this week, preserving another shutout. Goalkeeper Brooklynn Fretwell stopped her only shot on goal faced and managed to improve her save percentage to .884.
Cameron Dillow (4) and Ella Fowler (3) each provided offensive pressure with several shots on goal in the winning effort.
Mariano's first goal came on an assist from Cameron Dillow in the 40th minute of the first half. Mont Alto added an insurance goal right before the half when Kaylen Gracey assisted on another Mariano tally. She would later complete the hat trick in the 50th minute.
Up Next: Mont Alto hosts Penn State Beaver on Saturday at 1pm.
