Mont Alto Volleyball completes play at USCAA Championship Tournament

Penn State Mont Alto went out on Day 2 of the national championships needing to win at least one game in order to continue play in the tournament.  Although the Nittany Lions went out strong and played well, it was not enough to find the win they needed.  They lost first to Robert Morris University Springfield (25-12, 25-21).  The next match was competitive and the score went beyond 25 as Mont Alto tried to defeat Ohio State University Marion, but they fell short (25-18, 28-26).  The team came together and had a great experience at nationals and played well against quality competition from around the nation.

"The team put forth a good showing against a USCAA school that is comparable in size and recruiting as us," Drue Hoffman said. "While the girls were a little undersized compared to the competition, all the coaches of the other teams remarked that when we were on, we were playing at a great tempo and causing them issues."  Mont Alto finished the season with a 19-8 record.  "The ladies put up a great season and showed some great abilities," Hoffman said.  "We have a few things to work on before next season and will get to work during the spring season as we focus on our goals for 2010."
