Volleyball Continues Winning Streak

Volleyball Continues Winning Streak

The ladies on the Mont Alto Volleyball team dominated their matches this weekend.  The winning streak started off on Saturday hosting Greater Allegheny and Beaver.  Mont Alto won both matches in three, moving their record up to 3-0 in PSUAC Conference and 5-4 overall. Coach Drue Hoffman commented on the success, "Mont Alto played strong volleyball for the day in their home gym. The team took the court and commanded the respect of both teams they played. Mont Alto showed lots of speed and movement on defense."

Sunday the women traveled to York to face Beaver and New Kensington.  In the first match against Fayette, Mont Alto found them having to come back from losing the first game.  Their focus and determination led them to win the next three sets, taking the win from last year's PSUAC Conference Champions.  Following Fayette's intense match, Mont Alto swept New Kensington in three and brought home two more wins.  "Today showed a team with a ton of heart and drive. We fought back from an early deficit to Fayette and settled the off court comments with their solid on court play.  They played a great weekend and caught the attention of all the officials, who remarked about how well the team is playing," Hoffman explained.

With a roster housing half freshmen and half returning players, this weekend was an example of how well the ladies are coming together as a team and they are working together to cover for one another.  The team now stands undefeated, 5-0 in PSUAC and 7-4 overall.  Volleyball returns back to their home court on Tuesday for a 7:00 p.m. match against Penn State Schuylkill.
