The Mont Alto Women's Volleyball team played host to the Lady Crusaders of Christendom College last night in a matchup of top teams.  Both teams are ranked in the top 20 in the USCAA rankings with Mont Alto at 10, and Christendom at number 17.

The Mont Alto women jumped out to an early 10-3 lead in the first set to cause Christendom to call a timeout to get settled.  With Mont Alto making good team plays through the entire set however, they kept tight control winning the first set with ease 25-12.

The second set started a little better for Christendom as their defense started to become apparently stronger, but Mont Alto still kept the edge by slowly gaining ground as they needed it to take the second set 25-17.

The third set started with a glimmer of hope for Christendom as they stayed up early on Mont Alto 9-8.  The Mont Alto crowd however, roared on to give their ladies the edge they needed to take over, scoring 7 unanswered points.  Finally, thanks in part to 2 aces in the last 5 points by Christine Walker and Brianna Rice, the Mont Alto women won the match in the third set 25-16.

Mont Alto's Lauren Chapman led both teams with 21 assists on the evening, while Christina Winters of Christendom led in the dig column with 15.  Mont Alto's Brianne Rice added in with 14 digs and 10 kills, while Christine Walker had 11 digs with 6 kills on the night.
