Mont Alto falls to Fayette in Semi-finals

Mont Alto falls to Fayette in Semi-finals

The ladies of Mont Alto's Volleyball team finished their season much earlier than they anticipated.  They went into the Friday night game at Rec Hall against Fayette, with the goal of making it to the championships Saturday.  For the fourth year in a row, Fayette finished ahead of Mont Alto, knocking us out in final four this time rather than the championship.  "The team seemed blinded in the bright lights of the main court, as they never really got going against Fayette," Head Coach Drue Hoffman comments.  "Fayette produced attacks from both of their outsides and both of their middle hitters; however we struggled to produce positive offense from only two players."

Fayette took the match in three sets, 25-15, 25-19 and 25-13.  Leading in stats for Mont Alto was Brianne Rice with 10 kills, two assists and nine digs.  Captain Christine Walker tallied 10 kills and 11 digs.  Lauren Chapman, also a captain, finished with five kills, 23 assists, nine digs and one block.

Mont Alto Lady Lions send congratulations to Fayette for winning the PSUAC Championships for the 4th straight year.

Despite the loss to Fayette, the 2011 season held some great high points.  "The ladies showed heart and hard work in the early part of the season at the Gettysburg Tournament and against several of the PSUAC teams," Hoffman added.
