Mont Alto Volleyball at USCAA National Championships

Mont Alto Volleyball at USCAA National Championships

The Penn State Mont Alto Volleyball Team finished their first day of play at the USCAA National Championships.  Head Coach Drue Hoffman reflects on the day of volleyball for Mont Alto…

The ladies from Mont Alto played two hard fought matches today.  In their first match vs. host Spalding University the ladies played tough but hurt themselves with too many missed opportunities.  They were showing the effects of the long bus ride vs. Spalding who had already had one match played before facing Mont Alto.  In Mont Alto's second match vs. University of Cincinnati Clermont, Mont Alto stepped out to an early lead in set one and never looked back. The ladies played very aggressive and surprised the #6 team in the nation.  The second set saw Clermont again struggle, but the ladies from Mont Alto were unable to fight off a late surge of energy by the outside hitters and dropped the set 22-25.  For the deciding set Mont Alto was down 8-2 as the team switched sides. But the team did not quit and fought their way back into the match only to lose on a tough play at the net. The ladies will be back in action tomorrow vs. Penn College and Rochester College. They are excited and hopeful for a victory over rival Penn College.
