Mont Alto, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto women's volleyball team opened up it's Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference slate on Tuesday night in a rematch of last year's PSUAC Tournament Semifinals with Penn State Brandywine. The visiting Brandywine squad revenged its season-ending loss with a 3-0 win with set scores of 25-23, 25-18, and 25-21.

Penn State Mont Alto (2-1, 0-1 PSUAC) played for the first time in a week and showed a little bit of rust, but the Lions matched the visitors point-for-point in the first set, nearly rallied from an nine-point deficit in the second, and held the lead at various points in the decisive third set. Courtney Stump (Greencastle, Pa. / Greencastle Antrim) led the Lions with a team-high 11 kills, while Alexis Smith (Carlisle Pa. / Carlisle) filled the stat sheet with six kills, eight digs and three assists. Freshman Courtney Matthews (Shippensburg, Big Spring) added four kills and eight digs with the Mont Alto libero Allison Meyers (Greencastle, Pa. / James Buchanan) tallying 20 digs in the loss.

Mont Alto returns to action on Saturday, September 23 when it hosts PSU Hazleton in a Salute to the Military match. Game time is slated for 1 p.m. with pregame festivities beginning at 12:45 p.m.
