Mont Alto Volleyball Cruises Past PSU York in Straight Sets

Mont Alto, Pa- Alexis Smith's (Carlisle, Pa. / Carlisle) career-high 19 service aces led the Penn State Mont Alto volleyball team to a straight set win over visiting Penn State York. Mont Alto picked up its second-straight PSUAC victory and improves to 4-2 overall.

Mont Alto cruised through the first set 25-4 with Alexis Shaffer (Hagerstown, MD. / South Hagerstown) and Alexis Smith (Carlisle, Pa. / Carlisle) leading the way with two kills apiece. Within the set, the Lions went on a 14-2 run.

In the second set, Penn State York put up more of a fight but eventually fell to Mont Alto 29-9. In the final set, it was more of the same with Mont Alto securing the sweep with a set score of 25-3 as they went on two huge runs within the game.

Smith finished with three kills on seven total attacks and had four digs. Katelyn Muse (Hagerstown, Md. / Boonsboro) also had an outstanding match keeping PSU York off-balance with seven aces of her own as well as a game-high 19 assists.

Penn State Mont Alto returns to action on Saturday, September 30 when it hosts a PSUAC Quad Match in the MAC Gymnasium. The Lions will be in action at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. when they take on PSU Fayette and PSU New Kensington.
