Volleyball Splits In Weekend PSUAC Quad Match

DuBois, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto volleyball team used a consistent offensive attack to beat PSU Schuylkill in straight sets (25-7, 25-13, 25-12) and fell 3-0 to PSU DuBois in the nightcap to earn the split. Penn State DuBois hosted Sunday's PSUAC Quad match with Mont Alto improving to 9-4 overall and 7-3 in the PSUAC.

Mont Alto was powered by Alexis Smith (Carlisle, Pa. / Carlisle), Alexis Shaffer (Hagerstown, Md. / South Hagerstown), Katelyn Muse (Hagerstown, Md. / Boonsboro), and Courtney Stump (Greencastle, Pa. / Greencastle) who each had big games against PSU Schuylkill. Smith served up 12 service aces, had 16 digs and converted on 3 kills. Muse had a match-high 28 assists, six kills, four aces and three digs. Stump went for a team-high nine kills and 13 digs with Shaffer contributing eight kills and two block solos. 

The Lions weren't able to build much momentum against DuBois falling in straight sets to the host school. Courtney Matthews (Shippensburg, Pa. / Big Spring) had six kills to go along with Shaffer's nine and Courtney Stump's (Greencastle, Pa. / Greencastle) team-high 12 kills on 44 total attacks.

Penn State Mont Alto return to action on Thursday, Oct. 12 in a road contest with Christendom with game time is slated for 7 p.m.
