Volleyball Drops Home Match with Christendom

MONT ALTO, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto (1-3, 0-1 PSUAC) volleyball team was dealt a 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-14) non-conference defeat by Christendom College on Monday evening. 

Inside the Box Score

  • Breanne Byers (Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg Area) had a pair of blocks to go with two kills. Senior Courtney Stump (Greencastle, Pa. / Greencastle Antrim) connected on four kills and was solid defensively with 11 digs.
  • Christendom (4-5) was powered by a pair of double-digit hitters in Michaela Pennefather and Mary Heisler who combined for 23 kills.

How it Happened

  • The opening set was a tight battle the whole way through as Mont Alto nearly pulled out the win, but the Crusaders tallied five more kills in the set and went on for the 25-22 win.
  • Mont Alto made a few early errors in the second set and Crusaders capitalized, taking the set 25-16.
  • The Lions chipped away at the early Christendom lead, but the Crusaders took advantage of a series of PSUMA errors for the final 25-14 triumph.

The Mont Alto volleyball team returns to action on Thursday, September 13 in a road PSUAC contest with Penn State New Kensington. The match is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
