Mont Alto Volleyball Uses 17 Service Aces to Earn First PSUAC Win

MONT ALTO, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto volleyball team rolled on Thursday evening using a season-high 17 service aces in a 3-0 road sweep of Penn State New Kensington. The Mont Alto (2-4, 1-1 PSUAC) victory was the first conference win of the 2018 season.

Inside the Box Score

  • Rachel Manikowski (Mercersburg, Pa. / James Buchanan) had a collegiate best seven kills and just two errors, for a .357 kill percentage.
  • Junior Katie Muse (Hagerstown, Md. / Boonsboro) dished out 16 assists, tallied nine digs and had a team-high five aces.
  • Courtney Stump (Greencastle, Pa. / Greencastle Antrim) finished with seven kills, five digs, and three service aces.
  • Freshman Melanie Tracey (York, Pa. / Dallastown Area) was sound on the back line with seven digs as well as four aces.
  • Both teams had 21 kills apiece, but Mont Alto played its cleanest game of the year to date.

The Penn State Mont Alto volleyball team returns to action on Sunday, September 16 with the program celebrating Salute to the Military and First Responders. The match with Penn State Beaver is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
