SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto volleyball team dropped a three-set decision to visiting PSU Fayette on Senior Day in Penn State University Athletic Conference play. Prior to the match the program honored Breanne Byers (Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg Area) and Katie Muse (Hagerstown, Md. / Boonsboro) for their outstanding contributions over the years.
Inside the Box Score
- Fayette won by scores of 25-19, 25-5, and 25-11.

How it Happened
- The teams traded the lead four times including at 9-9. Mont Alto went up 11-9 after a Melanie Tracey (York, Pa. / Dallastown Area) ace. However, the big hitters for Fayette took over and the visitors established a lead and forced back-to-back timeouts. After a few adjustments Mont Alto fell 25-19.
- Fayette ran out to a 6-1 lead that finally was succumbed with a Breanne Byers (Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg Area) kill. The visitors got things rolling and took a 15-3 lead before finishing it off at 25-5.
- It was very close initially within the third game, but Fayette was able to get out to a 16-8 lead due to a few PSUMA hitting errors. It proved too much to overcome with Fayette clinching the No. 1 seed in the PSUAC Tournament with the sweep.
Up next, Mont Alto travels to Penn State DuBois for a tri-match with them and Cincinnati Clermont. Match times are slated for 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
