LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto volleyball team was unable to overcome 36 kills from PSU Fayette as the homstanding Lions rallied in the third set for the 3-0 win in a PSUAC Tournament quarterfinal matchup. Fayette used a balanced attack move on to the PSUAC Semifinals where they will take on the No. 2 seed in the PSUAC East, Brandywine.

Freshman Kylee Gooding (Warriors Mark, Pa. / Tyrone Area) notched a match-high 13 kills on 27 total attacks. She also had three aces and 13 digs defensively. She likely concludes her freshman season with 350 kills, which currently ranks second in the USCAA. Senior Katie Muse (Hagerstown, Md. / Boonsboro) dished out 10 assists for Mont Alto and Breanne Byers (Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg Area) served up a game-high four aces.

Fayette took the first set by a 25-13 score, but the second set was much more competitive with PSUMA pushing the No. 1 seed to a few ties before succumbing 25-20.  It was all Mont Alto in the third set as they maintained the lead throughout most of the game. However, Fayette rallied and forced overtime for the sweep at 26-24.

Penn State Mont Alto likely concludes their 2019 season with a 16-11 overall record.
