Mont Alto Cross Country competes in the PSUAC Championship

The members of the Mont Alto Cross Country team ran through the finish line one last time Saturday.  They competed in the last meet of the season at Fayette for the PSUAC Cross Country Championships.  The course was challenging with many rolling hills, lots of mud and sharp turns.  Mont Alto trained on hills all season and they were ready to conquer the course.

The women's race started at 1:00 p.m.  Sophomores Jennie Diehl and Crystal Wagner ran their last meet wearing a Mont Alto jersey.  Running a great race, Diehl finished 9th overall with a time of 26:40.  Wagner was not far behind with a time of 28:10 and 15th place.  There were 27 women overall for the PSUAC.

The men made their way to the start line where their 8K race began at 1:45 p.m.  Orhan Yilmaz, Brandon Hall, Tosh Rung and Matthew Martino represented Mont Alto at the meet.  Martino came across the finish line first for Mont Alto 11th overall with a time of 33:46, Hall was second and 35th overall with a time of 41:01.   Rung finished with a 41:20 and 38th and Yilmaz had a time of 48:28 and finished 52nd place.

The members of the Mont Alto cross country team have a lot to be proud of.  They trained all season and were constantly reaching the goals they set individually and as a team.
