Mont Alto Cross Country runs in Galen Piper Race

Penn State Mont Alto's Cross Country team ran on Friday night at Shippensburg University in the 2013 Galen Piper Race.  This was the first time that a Mont Alto Cross Country team has competed against Division I and II programs.

"It was quite a learning experience for the team.  It was the first cross country meet for James and Shannon and I was pleased with the way they handled things," commented Head Coach Bill Preston.

In the women's 4K, Shannon Allamon finished with a time of 22:47 in 82nd place and Stacie Freedman had a time of 23:14 following right behind Allamon, in 83rd place.

The men's team competed in a 6K race where James Mckeithan finished in 59th place with a time of 20:43 and William Clees was 121st and his time was 24:04.

"Billy got carried away with the early pace but did recover and competed well," stated Preston. "I am looking for improvement this week at York College where again we will be seeing a number of solid programs.  We have picked up some additional athletes and as the season goes on I am looking for some good things to happen."

Mont Alto Cross Country will compete again Saturday September 14th at York College.
