Fayetteville, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto cross country teams hosted their home meet on Saturday at nearby Norlo Park. Runners raced in temperatures exceeding 85 degrees with Penn State Schuylkill taking home the team first-place finish in the women's 6K race and Penn State Fayette earned first-place honors in the men's 6K race.

Freshman Mackenzie Rogers (Mount Union, Pa. / Mount Union) competed in her first 6K of the season and crossed the finish line eighth with a recorded time of 34:10.00. Kent State Tuscarawas's Katelyn Dillon was the fastest female of the afternoon turning in a time of 28:31.00.

The Mont Alto men had Levi Canon (West Middlesex, Pa. / West Middlesex), Darius Carter (Greencastle, Pa. / Greencastle Antrim) and Mathew Eyler (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro Area) racing in 6K, which was shortened from an 8K due to the extreme temperatures. Canon was the top finisher for the Lions with a time of 24:14.00, which was good for seventh. Carter was the next best finisher with a time of 29:53.00 and Eyler who was racing in his first-ever 6K crossed the finish in 36:50.00.

Penn State Mont Alto has the week to train before competing in the Frostburg State Invitational on Saturday, September 30.
