Rogers and Canon Score Top-5 Finishes in 2017 PSUAC Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - The Penn State Mont Alto cross country team had six runners competing at Saturday's Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) Cross Country Championships held at nearby Norlo Park. Both Mackenzie Rogers (Mount Union, Pa. / Mount Union) and Levi Canon (West Middlesex, Pa. / West Middlesex) scored fifth-place finishes for Mont Alto with each now qualifying for the 2017 USCAA Championships on November 10 in Virginia Beach.

Penn State Schuylkill claimed the women's title with three runners finishing in the top-5. Schuylkill's Alexis Luna won the women's 6K by running a 29:41. Mackenzie Rogers (Mount Union, Pa. / Mount Union) finished fifth, just over four minutes slower than the leader with pace of 31:59. Alexis Moreno (Boiling Springs, Pa. / Boiling Springs) raced the course for the first time collegiately and finished 15th at 37:01.

Penn State Fayette won its second straight PSUAC Championship in the men's 8K race. Fayette had three runners finish within the top-five with Levi Canon (West Middlesex, Pa. / West Middlesex) crossing the finish line fifth with a time of 31:49. Joel McEnnis (Lebanon, Pa. / Cedar Crest) was the next best finisher for Mont Alto finishing the race 19th with a time of 36:27. Darius Carter (Greencastle, Pa. / Greencastle Antrim) finished 26th at 41:09 and Mathew Eyler (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro Area) rounded up the Nittany Lions runners with a 28th place time of 44:13.

Rogers and Canon will compete in the USCAA Championships in less than two weeks. Canon looks to best last seasons 58th place finish at championships.
