Canon and Rogers Run Well at the USCAA Cross Country National Championships

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Penn State Mont Alto cross country team had a pair of runners competing at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships on Friday morning in Virginia Beach. Runners competed in unfavorable weather conditions, in which runner's dealt with strong winds, chilly temperatures, and a soggy course with the SUNY Delhi men and Cleary University women repeating as National Champions.

Representing the Mont Alto women's team was freshman Mackenzie Rogers (Mount Union, Pa. / Mount Union). Rogers ran the 6K in 31:08.06, finishing 88th overall in the 125-runner field. Her time also marked a personal-best as it was just under 21 seconds faster than her previous best time of 31:30.84, which she ran at the 2017 Frostburg State Cross Country Invitational on Sept. 30.

Sophomore Levi Canon (West Middlesex, Pa. / West Middlesex) competed in his second-straight National Championships and crossed the finish line 47th in the 166-man field. In the 8K race, Canon posted a time of 29:34.91, which also represented a colligate personal-best time.

Individually, SUNY Delhi's Kobie Lane won the men's title, while Cleary's Madison Paquette claimed the women's crown.
