Mont Alto Cross Country Opens Season at the Galen Piper Cross Country Challenge

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto cross country team ran under the lights Friday evening to jumpstart the 2019 season at the 10th Annual Galen Piper Cross Country Challenge. PSUMA competed against runners from the University of Pittsburgh, Shippensburg and York College.

Sophomore Madison Ford (Fayetteville, Pa. / Chambersburg Area) improved upon her finish from a year ago with a 51st finish at 19:03.1. 

The Nittany Lions had a quartet of runners competing in the male portion of the race, which was six kilometers. Freshman Joel Minicozzi (Hedgesville, W.Va. / Hedgesville) was the top finisher with a time of 25:01.1. Right behind him was Simon Egolf (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro Area) who ran a 26.59.5. 

Andrew Walker (Carlisle, Pa. / Big Spring) who recorded a time of 31:13.0 and Jacob Geesaman (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro Area) at 31:33.6 rounded up the finishers.

PSUMA return to action in a week (Sept. 13) at the Blazer Twilight Meet at 4 p.m.
