Carper, Brandt Headline Cross Country In Nationals

The cross country team competed in the 2021 USCAA Cross Country National Championships at the Military Aviation Museum course in Virginia Beach, Virginia on Friday. Macy Carper headlined the women's side for Mont Alto with an 8th place finish, and Gabriel Brandt finished in 19th on the men's side. The National Championship race wraps up another successful season for Coach Geesaman and his cross country squad.

Bryce Hopper and Cassidy Engelson took 1st and 2nd respectively for SUNY ESF on the women's side. Hopper posted a time of 24:51, and Engelson finished nearly a minute behind with a time of 25:38. Macy Carper finished 8th in the women's race with a time of 26:40. Samantha Sibold wrapped up her season with a 46th place finish, posting a time of 39:05.

A SUNY ESF runner also paced the men's race leaderboard. Matt Frame won the race with a time of 26:57. Gabriel Brandt finished his strong season, and 2nd place performance at the PSUAC Invitational with a 19th place finish in Friday's Championships. He ended the 8k with a time of 30:44. Gavin Miller finished the race in 57th place, recording a 35:34. Joel Minicozzi was shortly behind Gavin with a time of 37:23. Jacob Geesaman came in 70th place, recording a time of 38:54.
