WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Penn State Mont Alto baseball team scored three in the top of the third inning to tie it up at three runs a piece, but McDaniel scored seven runs in the bottom of the frame for a 14-6 win over the Nittany Lions in non-conference action.

McDaniel (10-12) plated home a run in the bottom of the first and added a pair an inning later to build its 3-0 lead. Colby Black (Shippensburg, Pa. / Big Spring) earned a one-out walk and Chance McClure (Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg Area) reached on a single as Jeremiah Younker (Hagerstown, Md. / Williamsport) cleared the bases with a triple off the right center field fence. Younker scored a batter later when Hunter Martin (Hagerstown, Md. / North Hagerstown) reached on a Green Terror error.

The Green Terror broke the game open in the bottom of the third inning, scoring seven runs on six hits off PSUMA starter Lowell Singer (Newville, Pa. / Big Spring). Singer ended up taking the loss on the mound.

Nick Jacoby (Shippensburg, Pa. / Shippensburg) doubled to open the fifth inning advanced to third on a wild pitch and was driven home on a Younker sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 10-4. The home team stretched it to 13-4 with one more in the fifth and two in the sixth inning.

Mont Alto (10-14) got things going again in the eighth as two walks, and back-to-back singles and an error made it 13-6. An RBI double from Antonio Rosanova, stolen base and throwing error set the final margin.

The Nittany Lions return to PSUAC action on Friday with a nine-inning game against Fayette. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
