Mont Alto Cheerleading Names November & December Cheerleaders of the Month

By: Jen Deinline, Head Coach Cheerleading

MONT ALTO, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto cheerleading program is proud to announce its first Cheerleaders of the Month for the 2017-18 season. The award is based on nominations from the team and given to a cheerleader who stands out in her efforts for the month.

The November Cheerleader of the Month is Madison Myers (Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg Area). Myers, a senior, was nominated for her quick progress learning cheers and stunting, and cheering at every game that month despite having joined just a few weeks prior.

"Madison was the last addition to the team, but we couldn't do without her spirit and enthusiasm," said head coach Jennifer Deinlein. "She constantly pushes herself and was determined to be ready for the first basketball games. She has been a really quick study, despite having very little cheerleading experience."

The December Cheerleader of the Month is Brittney Wilson (St. Thomas, Pa. / James Buchanan). Wilson, a junior and team captain was nominated for her leadership and dedication.

"Brittney is brand-new to cheerleading – her background is in dance – but she has come so far in learning cheerleading skills thanks to endless determination," said Deinlein. "Her teammates said they are inspired by her leadership, confidence, and trust in them. She is ready and willing to try anything when we're stunting; in fact, she insists on trying it all so that she can fill whatever role is needed in stunts."

The Mont Alto cheerleaders cheer at all home men's and women's basketball games and will return to action January 13, 2018 when the Nittany Lions host Penn State Brandywine in the MAC for a PSUAC doubleheader.
