MONT ALTO, Pa. - Kassie Stermer (McConnellburg, Pa. / McConnellsburg) has been named the Penn State Month Alto Cheerleader of the Month for February. The award is based on nominations from the team and given to a cheerleader who stands out in her efforts for the month.

Stermer, a freshman base, was nominated for her dedication to her teammates both on and off the court, and for her outstanding on-court persona.

"You can't miss Kass when she's cheering – her smile is infectious and you can always hear her above the crowd," said head coach Jennifer Deinlein. "She always has a smile for her teammates, and as one of them said, 'She makes us all smile.' They also know she is always there for them, whether it's during games or practices or just in daily campus life."

The Mont Alto cheerleaders cheered for all home men's and women's basketball games during the 2017-18 season, which concluded Feb. 9. They are still busy with off-season workouts and tryout preparation, recruiting and fundraising.
