MONT ALTO, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto men's basketball team kept rolling on Wednesday night picking up its 13th consecutive victory. The Nittany Lions bested Christendom College by a 90-47 score to improve to 14-2 overall and will have a big test on Saturday squaring off PSU York on the road.

Inside the Box Score

  • Every player on the Mont Alto roster got on the scoresheet with fellow freshman Cameron Williams (Inwood, W.Va. / Musselman) and JR Powe (Frederick, Md. / Thomas Johnson) scoring 18 points each. The duo combined to splash a perfect 6-for-6 makes from downtown and Williams matched his output against the Crusaders from their last matchup.
  • PSUMA finished the game shooting 50.7 percent from the field and were 10-of-26 from 3-point range. The Nittany Lions outrebounded the visitors by a 40-23 margin.
  • Christendom shot 33.3 percent from downtown, which kept them in the game early within the first half. Owen Kennedy notched a team-high 14 points for the Crusaders.

How it Happened

  • The Crusaders put the first points on the board draining a 3-pointer and forced Mont Alto to take a timeout with 16:38 left in the half after another trey and dunk. Christendom led 8-4, but PSUMA settled in and went on a 20-7 run that was capped off by a Nathan Osei (Frederick, Md. / Frederick) layup to make it 28-12.
  • Christendom responded with a mini run of it's own, but Mont Alto went on a 10-0 spurt to advance their lead to 43-22. The teams traded baskets to end the half as the Nittany Lions went into the break with a 47-27 lead.
  • Mont Alto picked up where it left off outscoring Christendom 13-2 during the first 3-plus minutes of the second half. They took their largest lead of the game at 45 points (84-39) after a Dariel Rivera (Lancaster, Pa. / McCaskey) layup. PSUMA were in cruise control down the stretch during the final 3:20 of the game.

Mont Alto was voted fourth in the most recent USCAA Men's Division II poll that also came out on Wednesday. PSUMA will look to pass another test when it travels to the No. 7 ranked team, Penn State York. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m.
